Have a lovely weekend.

What are you up to this weekend? I'm excited to take Alex to this swing art installation, and other than that, we'll be straight-up chilling. Next week, I'm looking forward to sharing our California photos. Have a great weekend, and here are a few fun posts from around the web...

Would you ever do a juice fast? This documentary looks compelling.

If only all clothing stores could be like this!

This book looks adorable.

Holy smokes! This bed is awesome.

What would you do if money were no object?

A bike bell that sounds like a car horn.

Cool way to get the look of wallpaper.

Apple cake looks delicious.

I've been eyeing these rad sunglasses for winter.

And I did a round-up of favorites at Darling Clementine. Thanks for having me!

  2. If you haven't watched "Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead" yet, it's absolutely fascinating! Definitely worth the watch!

  3. I have the adult version of the Question a Day book (http://www.amazon.com/Q-A-Day-5-Year-Journal/dp/0307719774/ref=bxgy_cc_b_img_b). I almost got the kiddie version for some cousins with little bitties this year, now I wish I had!

It's so interesting to see how I answered something on the same day a year ago--and how often it is different. But so far it is hard for me to write THIS year's answer without reading last year's first. Pretty cool!

  8. The documentary 'Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead' is very eye opening! It gives a lot of insight on whole foods and how they can be used to treat disease and get you healthy! I highly recommend it. :)

  11. I watched that documentary 2 years ago and have been juicing (as an add on to my regular diet) for two years! My skin has never looked better! It took us about 6 months to really notice a difference.

  12. Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead was a huge catalyst for me! i'd been dealing with a awful GI, weight up and downs, and headaches over the past few years. after adopting veganism and clean eating and juicing regularly, everything miraculously came into balance. - like a light switch being turned on.

i'd also recommend watching Forks Over Knives, which references The China Study (fascinating study about animal products consumption and heart disease. hint: they are linked). anyways, such a great film. i was crying by the end because the stories are so touching and compelling.

i've been juicing and smoothie-ing regularly for about six months now and my energy levels, mental attitude, weight, and systems are all so much better. it might not be for everyone but it's certainly for me.

    i write about it here.

    enjoy the film!

  14. Oh my gosh I am DYING over Lindy West's response to Dave Mustaine's Men's Wearhouse outburst. Seriously, I am laughing sooo hard. Thank you for sharing, Joanna! Can always count on one of your Friday links to start my weekend off right.

  15. I can't get over that bicycle horn - when it comes to bikes, USA is REALLY far behind. In Denmark there really isn't a need for that sort - mainly because of bikelanes, but also because of the general mentality that all bikers don't give a sh** and that's why you should always keep an eye out for them. :-D That's why it's kind of hilarious to me - we only use our bells to take over a slower biker. Imagine startling a peaceful biker with that! Kind of aggressive.

  20. That documentary is really interesting! Immediately after watching we bought a juicer and juiced for 5 days (ok 4.5 days and then I ate a salad) but it really made me feel better and jumped started my metabolism again. We still juice here and there and I always feel good about it. Definitely watch the film!

  24. You know, a lot of these things can be cleared up by adding the word "science" or "evidence" to a google search.

And there's a reason that the China study was published as a book instead of in a peer-reviewed journal: it was so methodologically flawed that nobody in their right mind would publish it.
