I recently went to a friend's house for lunch, and she served a pitcher of water with watermelon slices. Refreshing with a touch of sweetness. This summer, wouldn't it be nice to have flavored waters in the fridge to make drinking water more delicious? You could use slices of lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, strawberries, raspberries, mint, cucumber, whatever! What are your favorites? xo Update: Thanks to the readers who suggested pineapple and clementine--yum.

My favorite flavored water is raspberry mint! It looks and tastes delicious! I also really like pineapple (which sounds a little weird) but it really takes on the taste of the pineapple!
ReplyDeleteLovely idea! I'm going to try make some flavoured water this weekend, sounds (and looks) so refreshing! Yum!

Come say hey at Ducklingtoswan.com! :)
I make these all the time on saturday and sunday mornings. I drink a ton of ice water during weekdays while in my office but sometimes I forget to on the weekend. I started doing the fruit water to remind myself to drink my water on the weekend!
ReplyDeleteMy mom discovered lime water while we were in Arizona a few years ago and now drinks it every day! :)
ReplyDeleteI make myself a small pitcher every morning and drink it throughout the day. I usually drop a few slices of whatever I've got around but cucumber mint is my choice of late.
ReplyDeleteI've never tried watermelon but I will be for sure now!
I love apricot water. It's never packaged anywhere so I make my own...so delicious!! =)

I love doing this! I'm terrible at drinking enough water, and I live in Florida, where you really need to! My favorite is to put cucumbers in a big water pitcher in the fridge. I have also seen strawberries and basil in sparkling water.

They all sound so refreshing, but did you know that citrus fruit drinks are hard on the enamel on your teeth? I suppose one should drink these sparingly. But sooo good!
ReplyDeleteI love me some cucumber water; it's SO refreshing! But one surprising way to add an incredible flavor to water: a bay leaf! I ate in a restaurant that put jars of water on your table that had bay leaves sitting at the bottom. It was surprisingly delicious!
ReplyDeleteSo refreshing! This reminds me of the water they had outside our hotel on Kauai. It's such a nice touch and tastes so good!
ReplyDeletejenniferxox
I was just thinking about doing this! I have heard cucumber is quite refreshing, but pineapple sounds incredible!
ReplyDeleteThat pitcher is super cool. I can't wait to try some of these this summer!

We use lemons, clementines, and blackberries most often. We like fruit that stands up to the water and doesn't dissolve.
ReplyDeleteCucumber, mint and lime in tonic with ice. After 5pm, throw in some gin!
ReplyDeleteI love sipping on cool water with lavender, mint and lemon. So good and totally refreshing! Happy Tuesday:) xo
ReplyDeleteCucumber is so surprisingly refreshing! It just tastes crisp and clean:)

LOVE!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in Sweden my host family always had cucumber and mint water... So ice-cold and delicious.
Working at The Spa Biltmore we also made cucumber water known as "spa water" in the industry.
Raspberry water sounds rather pleasing. I'd love to try it!
ReplyDeleteKatie
oh, i love the cucumber idea, will have to try.
ReplyDeletei normally just do lemons and limes - i drink way too much water so anything different will spice up my day!!
Yum! I love cucumber water. Probably the most refreshing summer drink out there!
ReplyDeleteI love mint in water--so simple and refreshing!
ReplyDeleteI also love to make my own homemade juices :) I made a tropical mixed juice recipe a month ago or so, and because it was such a big hit with my friends I posted it on my blog: http://www.alittlesliceofpye.com/2012/03/homemade-tropical-mixed-juice.html
Lovely idea! Watermelon or lemons would be my top choices! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI love mint.
ReplyDeleteI'll give these a try with the kids. Thanks
ReplyDeleteThanks for share i need love this ....... .
ReplyDeleteI love naturally flavored waters. I put lemon, orange, an cucumber in my water... And I like to call this little mix Spa Water! Oh so chic! ;)
ReplyDeletexo's, vanessa
Would love to try lemon or orange; I enjoy the citrus flavors. I've seen pitchers that are made specifically o you can add fruits into the middle without it floating in the water, it's in a tube that goes through the middle of the pitcher.
ReplyDeleteI love the combination of orange and cucumber.
ReplyDeleteI used to work at The Spa At Sundance and we would make lemon cucumber water. It was super simple but SO refreshing! People loved it after their services and treatments.
ReplyDeleteI've also seen orange cucumber water. Yum!
I hate drinking water so I like to put mint & cucumber in mine - it's the only thing that gets me to drink it!
ReplyDeleteGreat suggestion! I will definitely try it for a summer drink. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteCucumber juice reminds me of a spa...wish I was actually at one right now!
ReplyDeleteapricot sounds perfect!!
ReplyDeleteBarchbo, clementines sound amazing -- and pineapples!! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat simple idea!
ReplyDeleteAnother idea- having fruity iced teas ready to drink in the fridge! I store them in mason jars. Check out the selection at http://www.davidstea.com :)
Is there a way to drink them out of a glass (not using a straw) without getting fruit pieces in your mouth?
ReplyDeleteUse a pitcher with a strainer function, and don't pour the fruit into your glass. If you leave the fruit in the pitcher you can use it for two or three batches, depending on how quickly you drink the water.
DeleteThese all sound so wonderful! I've always thought about putting fruit in water to make myself drink more, but now I definitely will : )
ReplyDeleteLemon, mint and cucumber together is just about the most refreshing drink you can have! Strawberry and cucumber are really good as well.
ReplyDeleteThe most adventurous I;ve been with this is cucumber and strawberry so I'll definately need to try this one out. I'll maybe wait till the elusive summer hits though!
ReplyDeleteThis looks amazing and so refreshing!
ReplyDeleteJoanna It is so nice to see you post about something non commercial again! I feel like you used to constantly post about things to do with kids/ or the balance of being a working mom. Those were great, thoughtful, fun posts. Lately so many seem about things to buy, not very in touch in the economy. Thanks
ReplyDeleteHow about grapefruit? This is such a great way to get excited about drinking more water, especially as summer comes along. Yum!
ReplyDeleteOh we are doing some of these at the wedding before the ceremony! So pretty and delicious.
ReplyDeleteI love water with cucumber slices!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I do this all the time for our son because we don't like him to drink juice. Adding the fruit to the water gives it that added sweetness without all the artificial sugar :)
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas! I'm most excited to try the berries and clementines!
ReplyDeleteagratitudejourney.blogspot.com
i'm all about raspberries and lemon flavored water, so refreshing!
ReplyDeleteIt's great to use a combination of frozen and fresh fruit! It keeps the water cold and as the fruit melts it releases that delicious sugary flavor.
ReplyDeletexoxo,
mon amy
I love fruit & herb waters. My new favorite is just muddled rosemary (http://www.daydreamincolor.com/?p=5739)! So good.
ReplyDeletesounds interesting..thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas, I have been obsessed with lemon and cucumber water lately but will have to venture onto fruit water!

Strawberries and lemons are my favorites!
ReplyDeleteMy cousin's 2 yr old boy just had to get 9 stitches in his foot after he pulled a glass pitcher of fruit water out of the fridge and dropped it. He could not walk for 2 weeks while he healed. I love the glass pitchers but I'll be using plastic until my son is older. We did have a lock on the fridge but the little guy busted it off :(
ReplyDeleteWe do basil and lemon in our house. Amazing!
ReplyDeleteMy sis in law always does cucumber and it is super refreshing!
ReplyDeleteI love flavoured water, especially in the summer - and no one has mentioned my favourite yet: honeydew melon!
ReplyDeleteI usually just add a slice or wedge of lemon in water, like how they serve in restaurants. But recently my mint leaves were about to rot so I froze them in ice cube tray along with water. Will make more such flavored ice cubes to use in summers!
ReplyDeleteSassy Water! That's what my mom and I call it... adding mint, cucumber, lemons etc. It's the season for it, getting hot outside, and it helps remind me to stay hydrated.
ReplyDeleteMy friend owns a sexy new restaurant (lunabistro.com) in Des Moines and they have a different flavored water every day. Strawberry and basil is out of this world.
ReplyDeletesparkling water with grapes cut in half and mint -- so good! feels like i'm drinking champagne :)
ReplyDeleteSound delicious and refreshing right now! I really love using blackberries and pomegranate seeds. Sometimes I crush them a little and the water looks (and tastes) beautiful!
ReplyDeletesounds so good!
ReplyDeleteSuch a perfect way to dress up water! I imagine making some with a little seltzer or a splash of your favorite liquor for entertaining. Yum!
ReplyDeletehttp://oisforotto.blogspot.com/
Dill water, for sure! Delicious!
ReplyDeleteCantelope with rosemary is amazing!!!! A lot of cantelope and a few sprigs of rosemary. So delicious.
ReplyDeletestrawberry & basil sounds amazing. even just the scent of the basil would make the water taste amazing.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone mentioned rhubarb flavored water? I use chopped, fresh, raw rhubarb. It's crazy good (and it stays good for quite some time - I usually refill the water a few times w. the same batch of rhubarb). It's almost in season here in NYC!
ReplyDeleteMy husband totally teases me about this, though I know he loves it too, but i LOVE fruit flavored water!! Watermelon, orange and cantaloupe are my fave, but I haven't tried blueberry yet and it looks delicious!

Not a fruit, but this restaurant I love drops a cinnamon stick into the pitcher and the water tastes delicious! :)
ReplyDeleteI had peach flavored water at a friend's wedding once. It was delish!
ReplyDeleteThat looks refreshing!

Joanna! When I worked at the W in Mexico City we had the same carafe in the photo with a few thin slices of orange and lime, with a few bobbing strawberries and blackberries. They always made the water slightly sweet - and so pretty to look at!
ReplyDeleteWe like to add slices of lemon, orange, cucumber and sprigs of lightly crushed mint to the water. It's so refreshing!
ReplyDeleteyum yum yum! love these kinds!

*I'm having one of my first giveaways!
As kids my sister and I had went out east to visit my uncle and aunt. They always had bottles of cucumber or lemon water, it was so delicious!
ReplyDeleteA Thai restaurant I ate at put some apple slices in the water; very subtle, but very refreshing!
ReplyDeleteCucumber slices in water are lovely and can make water taste more "fresh." If we're talking aguas frescas (pureed fruit, water and simple syrup): pineapple and ginger is wonderful, so is blueberry mint lemonade.
ReplyDeleteI love doing this. And when I want to ramp it up a notch I freeze the fruit in ice cube, so I flavors and keeps the water cold while on the table. Plus I love mint in my water.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite is apple and cinnamon. I boil apples and cinnamon and make tea out of uit and add like 2 tbsp of it to a pitcher of cold water. Makes for lovely, refreshing, and healthy water!
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend is mexican so I've discovered with him the Agua Fresca, a beverage you can find every mexican home. They simply blend a few slice of fruits with water! (they add a lot of sugar but you can tone it down and it's still so good and refreshing!). So simple, it was a revelation for me!
ReplyDeleteWe like rosemary in our water. Mmm! Several of our favourite restaurants in Santa Fe offer his, and now we've come to expect it during the hot months!
ReplyDeletewhen i was in Panana (the country, not the city in florida :) i experienced cucumber flavored water. i was blown away by how simple and refreshing it was...and beautiful!
ReplyDeletemylettchronicals
Tarragon ice cubes slowly melting into lemon water - makes me relaxed just thinking about it.
ReplyDeletemango is also amazing!
ReplyDelete5 years ago a friend pulled out a pitcher of mint water and ever since you can count on finding some in my fridge
ReplyDeleteYou can also try boiling some ginger to make ginger water. It has a nice spice to it. I use it to make green tea with some honey. It's also great to blend with some watermelon, melon or honey dew.
ReplyDeletelove it - my usual is cucumber, lemon and mint leaves.. it's so refreshing..
ReplyDeletebut my new favorite is - pineapple (not much, just a slice or two), lemon, and strawberries..
yummmm yummmm yummmmm
I love raspberry flavoured water!

Made this last night for dinner with sparkling water and fresh strawberries. Mmmmm!! I am not a big water person so this is a delicious way of drinking the 8 glasses a day :-)
ReplyDeleteapple slices, i never would have thought of that!
ReplyDeleteCalendula Flowers and chamomile flowers are lovely!
ReplyDeleteRhubarb : )
ReplyDeletevanilla bean and orange slices...so good!
ReplyDeleteWhat an AWESOME pitcher. Where did it come from?
ReplyDeleteWhat's the recipe for the picture you posted? Will you share that with us?
ReplyDeleteOur local hospital has 2 huge pitchers outside the cafeteria. Each one has a different fruit in it each day and is filled with ice water.I fill my water bottle every time I have to go there and it is free!! The chef there told my sister the fruit in the water replenishes the body's electrolytes. I say ... BONUS!!!!!
ReplyDeletethat's grade and nice, thanks for post
ReplyDeletei have also a blog
http://www.srilankanmeal.blogspot.com/
nice idea.. thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is apple slices with a sprig of mint. tastes so good!
ReplyDeleteYum! I love the idea of adding fruit! I try to keep a pitcher of water with lemon, cucumber, and mint in my fridge and it is so refreshing - but adding more fruit sounds delicious, too!
ReplyDeleteI just got an "infuser" pitcher from Costco yesterday (4/15/13). There is a coupon in the latest mail out and it was only $15 for 2 pitchers by a brand called Takeya! You put your fruit in a little chamber that screws on to the lid then they recommend filling the pitcher with hot water screwing lid on and letting sit overnight in the fridge. We did strawberry/kiwi and have been drinking it all day! The next I want to try is the frozen berry mix from costco with some rosemary sprigs from my yard!
ReplyDeleteFlavored water is a new innovative product in the soft drink market. One advantage of this product is it is free from carbs and calories.
