Joanna, I work at a Trader Joe's. I've tried almost everything there, and these are, hands down, no contest, the BEST thing they sell. They are so very, very dangerous that I won't let myself buy them anymore. Now if we happen to have a container open at work, that's an entirely different story! I can't eat them without smiling...something about the yummy dark chocolate followed by that burst of salty almond flavor...so good!
I like their dark chocolate+ espresso beans + toffee nuggets at the check out counter. They come in a happy round tin. I save the tin and spray paint it and use it to house little button magnets. Delicious first, upcycled second!
I heart Trader Joe's! Only problem is that I live in Texas... however, just read an article yesterday that they are scouting new sites for TJ stores in Texas and should be opening in early 2012! Thanks to your lovely post, now I'm even more excited!!!
Aahh Joanna! I LOVE Trader Joe's. I have yet to try these (although I pretty just made them a necessity pick-up on the way home - especially after Rachel's comment) but I HAVE had their Dark Chocolate Covered Pomegranate Seeds - which are heavenly. Check 'em out. :)
so funny, i bought these last weekend only because the guy at the register saw me eyeballing them and he opened one container for us to try.. needless to say, they barely lasted one day!
Whenever I would get any of the Trader Joe's covered nuts I would think that they would last me a week, but they would always be gone within two days. I use to be addicted to the praline ones. I miss Trader Joe's!
YEEEEESSSSSSS! I've only had them once - and I ate the whole container in one sitting. Thank goodness TJ's isn't in Colorado or else I'd have a serious issue on my hands.
Makes me want to CRY!! Our Trader Joes stopped carrying these!! Waaaahhhhhh!! Along with the all time best tortilla chips (Indentity Crisis chips if you have not tried them you must go back now!!!) AND their frozen chocolate covered bananas-- It's a sad sad TJ's time here!! Enjoy!!
This is the type of thing I can't keep in the house, because I know I will inhale them all in a day or two. Same with Pirate's Booty...it's so fluffy-crunchy and addictive that I usually eat at least half the bag as soon as I bring it home!
I'm addicted to trader joe's. these are awesome. Have you tried the cocoa batons? They're like crisp little bite size ladyfinger-ish things of perfection.
yes, they are awesome. they were actually my addiction last summer; so much so that it actually makes me nauseated to think about them. they were my "meal" on many summer afternoons. so, enjoy but - be careful! :)
I love these....I just bought some a couple weeks ago...I live 2.5 hours from the nearest Trader Joes...so as much as I want to devour them all I must make them last!
Ok, here is another addiction for you to add to the mix: dark chocolate covered almonds that look like golden eggs. SO pretty and SO delicious!! http://www.ohnuts.com/buy.cfm/bulk-chocolate/covered-nuts/gold-almond-jewels
Trader Joe's always does it. Somehow they seem to get me hooked on everything they sell. If you think those are habit forming, stay away from the dark chocolate peanut butter cups. You will need rehab after those :)
joanna, i don't know whether to love you or hate you for this recommendation! i just dropped my husband off at tj's (he works there) and HAD to buy these--YUM!
Really? When it comes to sweet meets savory I prefer the battle in my mouth to last a little longer - these are instantly way saltier than sweet! I love the chocolate coated pretzel thins myself... to the lady who's TJ's stopped stocking them, she could ask them to start again & I am certain they will be happy to accommodate!
Every time I'm at TJ's I look wistfully at these, knowing that if I take them home the container will be empty in a matter of hours. I may have to give in to the desire on my next visit!
addictive. mmm...
ReplyDeleteOh dear - when these are in front of me, I cannot be stopped!
