The weather has been so beautiful this week; summer suddenly feels right around the corner (finally!). What kind of swimsuits do you usually wear? The new J. Crew swimsuits are really pretty.P.S. My British grandparents call them "bathing costumes." :)

Strapless bikinis are my favourites, to get a better tan.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.soyfrivolita.blogspot.com/
i wear one pieces since i'm self conscious about my tummy ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love that floral one-piece
ReplyDeleteI was just admiring the j crew suits yesterday! And from now on... the are strictly going to be called bathing costumes by me. Starting.... NOW!
ReplyDeleteI love Old Navy bathing suits. They're cheap enough that you can buy all the pretty patterned suits you want. That one piece makes me want one of my own :)
ReplyDeleteI love the second one. If I go swimming I usually go with one piece but the second one would look adorable for a day on a beach:) kisses
ReplyDeleteThe 2nd one is my fav!!
ReplyDeleteBeth
I'm obsessed with the new swimsuits from
ReplyDeleteGilly Hicks! So cute! I love all of the ruffles that are popping up on swimwear this season.
xxKristin
LOVING Gilly Hicks Swimwear too! :)
ReplyDelete*Ashley {a little dash of ash}
oh, yes, the gilly hicks suits are so pretty!
ReplyDeletei just love that second one! i usually wear a bikini for better tanning. but if i am only going to be poolside having a cocktail or just taking a stroll on the beach for a bit, i definitely wear a vintage one piece.
ReplyDeleteI luv those J.Crew suits!!!
ReplyDeletei LOVE that second one! it makes me so ready for summer but a little sad we've got to get through spring first!
ReplyDeleteI am not usually a big floral fan but the exception is with bathing suits. For some reason I am anti-flower dresses but pro flower bathing suite. I also love the ruffle bikini but unfortunately it is not a style that suits me well.
ReplyDeletelovely selections ♥
ReplyDeletesea folly is one of my fav's!
http://missmollyfashions.blogspot.com/
That's so funny, I'm Canadian and call it a bathing suit... I didn't know it was out of the norm! :) Love the last one!
ReplyDeleteAlice
Ooo I'm all about that one piece at the bottom - something about the pattern and cut makes it seem so fresh. This season I think I need to finally find the perfect little black bikini - the swim suit equivalent of the LBD.
ReplyDeleteBecca
You READ my mind- I was searching all over the web yesterday for swimsuits and literally, no kidding you, thought to myself: 'I wonder when Joanna will do a round-up of cute suits.' Since it's starting to get warm and you've posted about pretty bathing suits in the past...and then this post today! I've found a few cute Free People ones through your blog and always think they're unique with all the funky details they have..like fringe bandeaus. I like the high waisted bikini look always. Also Radio Fiji bathing suits are super sexy and the colors make you look so tan- they are sold at boutiques like SouthMoonUnder.com
ReplyDeletei like strapless bikinis, but i always feel like i look better in my undies than my bikinis. i cant figure out why!!

Ah.. bathing costumes, not quite the same. Just caught that. Guess I'm not so unique after all! ;)
ReplyDeleteI love these they are so pretty!!!!!! I especially love the first two! They are just so simple and elegant!

Fashalina, you're so cute! i've worn only jcrew suits for like 15 years now :) i swear by them.
ReplyDeleteHey the british have it going on! I love that they call bangs...fringe! It's way more chic :)
ReplyDeleteI love the top and bottom ones :) the middle doesn't work well for a larger bust ;p and I don't want to lose it!!
ReplyDeleteThe Arrival, on Amazon now

Pretty pretty bathing costumes. Loving Eres as well:)
ReplyDeletei got a volcom one at zappos.com, and i really like it. it's an aqua print. a little young perhaps, but i think that is ok with a swimsuit. it helped me to really get the idea in mind of what i wanted and go from there. i have pale skin so that is a really important factor!! don't want to dark, boring, and don't want too pink, will look like you are naked!
ReplyDeleteI love your picks. The liberty print one-piece is darling!
ReplyDeleteI love the middle one!
ReplyDeleteOhh la! I'm heels over head for the the floral, and the fringed bandeau is lovely! My favorite 'bathing costume' is vintage one-pieces. Stunning, timeless, and flattering - it's a win, win, WIN situation!
ReplyDeleteKatie
my british family calls them "swimming costumes" and "cossie" for short...
ReplyDeleteI love the third one, such a pretty pattern!!
ReplyDeletewell my "bathing costume" is usually a vintage looking one piece. I'm pretty modest about what I wear, and I have a pretty curvy body, and that style is what suits me best.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.thevanitylair.com
I love the top in the second photo, so cute!
ReplyDeleteBathing Costume. I love that!
ReplyDeleteI also love that ruffly bandeau.
I discovered that I like two piece bathing costumes. Somehow, the one piece suits I find (that are affordable) only accentuate my little pooch.
I love the British term, because i actually feel like hunting for a theme party costume or something when i'm out buying a swimsuit! I love them a bit crazier than everyday outfits! :D
ReplyDeleteyes, haha, i love "fringe!"
ReplyDeleteand pants :)

Summers here.... yeah!
ReplyDeleteJ. Crew ALWAYS has the prettiest swimsuits. I have to get one or two new one's each season - my boyfriend doesn't understand. Nor do I - but they're so pretty. Always!
ReplyDeleteHeading to Miami in about 6 weeks and I'm so not ready for a bathing suit! Ugh!!
ReplyDeleteI went from bikinis pre-baby to tankinis post baby. This year, I'd like a sexy :) one-piece.
I'm going to check out J.Crew (but I don't always love how they fit my big(ger) bottom). And Anthro, of course, has some beautiful ones (pricey tho). An Anthro suit would be ideal.
the flowered one piece is just darling. love.
ReplyDeleteoh I'm swooning over the second one....that's what I would wear to the beach. I can't wait for warmer temps, it's still terribly cold here!
ReplyDeleteJ. Crew always has such wonderful swim suits. I especiall love the bando top in the second picture.
ReplyDeletexoxo,
courtney
I love that middle one. So feminine and pretty. Although I think one piece suits are sexy, too. Can't wait for summer!
ReplyDeleteIf I hadn't had three babies (though I'm glad I did!)...I would totally wear the bathing suit behind "Door #2"! That is the most gorgeous suit I have seen in forever! After the kids...this belly-button will never again see the light of day. Haha!
ReplyDeleteI think the first bathing suit looks more like lingerie. Can we wear it as such? Ha!
Oh these are so pretty! I can't ever find good bikinis, the first one looks really nice!
ReplyDeleteI love the second one!!!
ReplyDeleteit's beautiful!!!
I love anthropologie swimwaer - especially some of the more retro maillot style suits.
ReplyDeleteJust bought myself a one piece from Anthropologie and love it! I'll probably be wearing it for the next five years. Quality but pricey. Always a dilemma.
ReplyDeleteI like your choices! I am tempted to get either the seersucker tankini or the liberty print bikini from J.Crew for this summer. Or, if I'm feeling really wealthy, both :-) But first... I need a place to wear them.
ReplyDeleteI love the strapless bikini, that's the only kind I wear as it gives you an even tan. As I'm inching closer to 40 I'm not sure if it is still appropriate to wear though...
ReplyDeletePetra
these are fantastic options. i have had swim suits on my mind for a while now, clearly!
ReplyDeletei love the second one with the ruffles - seeing as how i'm lacking in that department! :)
ReplyDeleteString bikini. Feels the sexiest and it flatters every body. :) That first one you posted looks too much like 'underwear'. I like the flowery one-piece. Romantic. :)
ReplyDeleteOh My Gosh! I knew my photos would be posted all over the internet once I started on-line dating! Darn!!!! Lol, Jennifer jennsthreegraces = not a size 0
ReplyDeleteI wish I could wear bikinis again, but with the last kiddo, I not only gained a son, but some serious stretch marks. But I do love strapless (no tan lines).and am partial to the retro cut
ReplyDeleteLove the floral number at the end. Is it just me or are some swimsuits bordering on underwear now? The first one looks like it belongs in the bedroom! It's not the first time I've thought this.
ReplyDeleteFleur Wood does some really pretty ones too.
I love that first suit you posted, and how the top looks like lingerie. Definitely going to keep my eye out for something similar.

I just had my baby a week and a half ago but I am already so excited to get back into a cute bathing suit this summer. I love J.Crew's swimsuits especially the second photo...
ReplyDeleteJoanna, Have you heard of Marysia Swim? She has been picked up by Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters and Barney's recently!! They are my favorite swimsuits and they look great and fit sooo well!! I can't wait to wear it out to the beach soon:)
ReplyDeletewww.marysiaswim.com
congratulations, notes from holly street!! your baby is SOOOO cute!
ReplyDeleteWe love the one piece swimsuit! Check out our friends at popinaswim.com. They have cute swimsuits too!
ReplyDeleteahhhh! I can't wait for summer! i love that flowered one piece too :). Normally i'm not as drawn to one piece suits but that one is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIn Australia we call them cozzies :) Or togs, depending on where you live. Loving the smokey grey of the middle bikini. And the last, is just so pretty! x
ReplyDeleteActually, I used to love bikinis and tankinis (well, still do) but now I'm super excited to get a "cute" one-piece swimsuit! It's similar to the one up top, totally 50's style and fun!
ReplyDelete(I'll post about it on my blog once I get it!)
Playing It Cooley
At a glance, the first one looks to me like a bra and panties, but I absolutely adore the third one. Give me this and a vacation somewhere sunny/swimmy and I'm happy!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the idea of bathing costumes.
I would totally wear that third one as a tank top and wear a high wasted skirt with it! I definitely need to find a floral top that looks like that for the spring :)
ReplyDeleteWhy do swimsuits away from the beach look so funny and awkward?! :) So cute though-- I am loving the floral.
ReplyDeletethese are lovely, but i would personally be lost without size-specific swimwear with smaller band sizes and bigger cup sizes. i got a lovely bikini from figleaves for this season.
ReplyDeleteI looove J. Crew's swimwear! I bought two bikinis last year and have another picked out for this summer. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness I love all of them!
ReplyDeleteI've always want to find one that had 70s sexiness to it. Kind of like the ones you featured a little while ago... Gosh, I forget the name (started with an R?) but they were luze and sexy.
ReplyDeletei'm loving that 2nd one!!
ReplyDeletei bought my first jcrew suit last summer and i looove it! such thick material -- makes me feel less self-conscious about everything staying in place, ha!
ReplyDeleteI've been scouring the internet for some attractive yet not too sexy swimsuits, and I didn't even THINK to look at J. Crew! I'm so happy you posted these. My favorite so far is this beautiful one piece: http://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/swim/solids/PRDOVR~27781/27781.jsp. That one will most likely be coming to Florida with me!
ReplyDeletethese are ALL my type of style. I went to Cuba in December and bought a bandeau bikini like the middle one, and an underwired top like the first. triangle tops just drive me mad, i love a bit of structure. the first one is so beautiful, i wish we had a j crew store here!
ReplyDeletestop by my blog if you have time, i'm doing a little giveaway :)
xox
bathing costumes?! that is priceless. loving all of these, so cute!
ReplyDeleteI especially love the middle one! Will definitely have to stop by a J.Crew soon.
ReplyDeleteAw, d'you know what else we call them over here? Bathers or cossies! (Pronounced cozzies). Like saying 'brolly' for umbrella. Just feels good.
ReplyDeletelast year i bought the charcoal ruffle bikini and i love it and highly recommend it... it has to be one of my favorite costumes ever!:)
ReplyDeleteAh...I love the look of a one piece but I have a "freakishly long" torso and just can't ever seem to find one that fits right...so I fall back to the good old two piece :)
ReplyDeletei wish I was that skinny. THey look lovely!
ReplyDeleteYeah in the Uk we always call them swimming COSTUMEs not swim SUITs. and we call them "cossies" so I guess that comes from costume! I love these but the top one kind of looks like a bra and knickers rather than a swimming costume. But it's still really pretty :) x
ReplyDeleteoh no!
ReplyDeletethese are making me feel so bad after all the pancakes I just ate! (its Pancake Day aka Shrove Tuesday here in the UK)
It is also lent tomorrow, goodbye bad food hello swimsuit body!
For the past 10 years I've been a Jcrew suit girl...they always fit me perfectly, even when I order them online. The weather has definitely been perfect, I can feel it getting closer and closer to spring each day! Oh, and I think clocks change this weekend..even better!
ReplyDeleteMy British husband calls them "bathing costumes" too! It always cracks me up. I love how that last one looks like a Liberty Print. As for what I wear, bikinis pre-baby, tankinis and one-pieces post-baby. I can't stand the look of my weird stretched out belly button now!
ReplyDeleteOooh I just ordered that top one in blue this past week. So excited to get it!
ReplyDeleteReally cute swimsuits! BTW, in Australia we call them "bathers" or a "cossie", both short for bathing costume, I suppose.
ReplyDeletelove the second one!!!!
ReplyDeletegreat blog!!

These are beautiful! I have always swooned over J Crew swim suits, but they are SO expensive. Why?! :(
ReplyDeleteI just recently stumbled upon Lands End Canvas and have found their clothing to be similar in style to J Crew, but slightly less expensive. A couple weeks ago I ordered a blue and white polka dotted bikini on sale for $9.99 (!!) a piece and its adorable! Yes, you read that correctly, $9.99. :)
bathing costumes? lolerskates! how cute! i make a motion to start calling them that instead of swim suits. because, let's be honest, how many of us really "swim" in them? but, if you use that logic i guess i should start calling them suck-in-your-tummy-suits or something equally as uncute. bathing costumes, it is.
ReplyDeleteThese are really nice:)
ReplyDeleteDown here in Oz we call them cossies!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the last suit!!
ReplyDeleteSo happy I stumbled on your blog, it's fantastic! Following you now. ;)

Xx. Jewls and Liza
I usually wear a cute asymmetrical one piece, but I'm contemplating getting J. Crew's Liberty Briland floral bikini top and find some cheaper Victoria's Secret bottoms to go with it. I really love the cute green flowers on it (and the fact that it's not completely plunging).
ReplyDeleteHere's a picture of it:
http://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/swim/patternsandprints/PRDOVR~34170/34170.jsp
i love the gray one with the ruffled top. i really like the retro feel of one-piece suits, but they look horrible on me. sigh. i want it to be summer already.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for swimsuit season! I'm still a month or two away:( I've already been searching for suits!
ReplyDeletehttp://2anchor.blogspot.com
Here in Queensland, Australia we call them swimming togs!
ReplyDeleteI'm a one piece or tankini (2 piece but no tummy showing :) girl.
We call them bathers or togs over here and I wear a one piece in fresh water and pools and a 2 piece at the beach so the jelly fish have no where to get stuck. ugghhh, worst feeling ever!
ReplyDeleteI really love the second one, I'm in search of a bandeau, I don't have any strapless bathing suits!
ReplyDeleteThe charcoal color would look great pre- and post-tan :)
I wish I looked that hot in a bathing costume!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! So elegant and classic, perfect timing too...
ReplyDeleteLOVE the blue one in the middle. today was my first official day of no sugar...gotta get ready for swimsuit season.
ReplyDeletejust got a j.crew shipment today with a black strapless twist front bandeau top!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the top one!
ReplyDeleteSwimsuit season already? AHHH! :)
ReplyDeleteAnthropologie has some supppper chic "monosuits" (one-pieces) this season. Check them out!
xo, Hallie

We call them togs in Australia! (don't know why!)
ReplyDeleteI love that it really feels like warm weather is around the corner when places begin to sell swimsuits. And like most of the readers, I'm definitely in love with that one piece!
ReplyDeletelove the second and third :)

My sweet sweet husband just bought me to the gorgeous seafolly suit that anthro is calling the natalie. Do you know it? It's a very 40s-pinup halter ruched maillot. A bit pricey, but SUCH a flattering suit (and seems to be universally flattering, based on the review on anthro's site).
ReplyDeleteMy fave swimwear brand here in Aus is SeaFolly - http://www.seafolly.com/ I'm head over heels with their English Rose bikini :) x
ReplyDeleteI wear one-pieces. My bikini days are long gone (but not forgotten. Sniff!). That flower print bathing suit is soooooo cute!
ReplyDeleteI have discovered that Eres makes the best bathing costumes in the world. People get really obsessed with them. They're really expensive but super flattering, hold you in in all the right places and last for over ten years - apparently. I haven't been in a position to drop 300 quid on a swimsuit I'll only be able to wear twice a year, yet.
ReplyDeleteThese costumes are gorgeous - but they don't do international shipping...boooo
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing though.
Marysia SWIM has the most darling swimsuits ... definitely check out her blog and website. She's constantly doing awesome things!
ReplyDeletehehe my friends in aust. used to call them bathers or cossies! haha ps i loved your piece in glamour this month!

Love that second bathing costume!! xox
ReplyDeleteLoove the floral swimsuit!

I love the second one!, nice day : )
ReplyDeleteI like these! I usually wear a one piece :) Pretty self conscious when it comes to bearing my body at the beach! This past year actually I got the courage to wear a bikini for the first time, well my friend was actually the one who got me to do it!
ReplyDeleteIs it that time already???
ReplyDeletehehe this made me laugh out loud. love old school terminology. so cute.

ReplyDeleteI love the second one with fringes! Very feminine, and trendy.

I am soooooo disturbed by the disgusting photo shopping. How do you even see the suits?
ReplyDeleteHow sad is it that people are commenting they wish they were photoshopped thin?
your South African readers call them costumes, too! Cozzies for short.
ReplyDeleteWoohoo! c'mon summer!
yes JCREW has some of the best swimsuits out there, the fit is fab and the colors are pretty.
ReplyDeletelove the floral one piece!
http://prettylittlethingsbymelissa.blogspot.com/
thanks so much Joanna!
ReplyDeleteI really need to go check out the J. Crew swimsuits, I usually treat myself to one every year, but I just can't muster up the images of me in a bathing suit....yet.
ReplyDeleteIts not bathing costume its swimming costume. Or cossie/ cossy for short.
ReplyDeleteI'm not ready for swimsuit season! But they sure are cute!
ReplyDeleteHa ha "Bathing Costumes" I LOVE it!!!
ReplyDeleteNeed ALL of them.
ReplyDeletewww.CelebrityOwned.com
the second one is awesomeness
ReplyDeletehey very nice photos thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteregards
Beautiful, the second one is stunning but third just screams feminine. Thanks for sharing. P.S your son is adorable, couple of months younger than mine, isn’t it amazing how their smile is the best gift in the day:)
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful! My only gripe with J.Crew bikini tops is the huge tie in the back. Unlike the models, I spend beach time in a beach CHAIR, and the ties dig into my back. Boo! Semi-worth it for the cuteness of the suits though, lol.
ReplyDeleteooo I need a costume approach to the swim wear this year. I am thinking of a VS which I normally do, or Newport News.
ReplyDeleteBikini #2 is so beautiful. Why do we not have J Crew in Paris? :-/
ReplyDeleteThat grey one. Oh for the figure!
ReplyDeleteI love bathing costume...my dad did too!

ReplyDeleteHere in Australia swimsuits are called bathers, togs or cossies (short for costume!) depending on which state you're in. And sadly for me, they're the last things I'm thinking about right now because Autumn's right on our doorstep!
ReplyDeleteBoth of those are sweet looking, but I personally prefer something that can take a bit more athletic activity (running, jumping, diving etc.) They would be nice for lounging though!
ReplyDeleteThese are stunning. It's true.. we don't call them swimsuits here in the UK. 'Bathing costumes' are quite old skool though. I refer to mine as my 'cossie' (as in costume).
ReplyDeleteoo, love the 2nd pic! reminds me of a yellow one that Something Navy's Arielle wore once.
ReplyDeletei tend to wear triangle bikinis since i'm pretty petite & they at least attempt to make me look more womanly! if i'm feeling self-conscious about my tummy though, i would recommend a 1-piece but which is really low-cut on the front, i had a moschino one in this style once, it was so flattering. i guess because it emphasises the length/long neck/cleavage rather than the waist, without looking tacky because it's still a 1-piece..

I love the swimsuits, any idea if I can get them in the UK? Couldn't find a link...
