I think my biological clock just started ticking. Seriously. I'm 28 years old, and I have suddenly and inexplicably starting fantasizing, obsessing and even dreaming about babies.I've started reading memoirs about nannies and motherhood and blogs written by moms. Every baby I pass on the street is cuter than the last; I coo and wave into their strollers. I think about babies all the time, as well as baby names: Oliver, Sasha, Sophie, Zoe (with an umlaut).
Has this happened to any of you?!

ReplyDeleteFunny post. My baby urge hit me about a month after I turned 28 while visiting some dangerously adorable nephews. And I have loudly proclaimed for 28 years and one month how I never wanted to have kids. Now I find the idea somewhat intriguing. Maybe the 28th birthday is a turning point for some of us ladies. ReplyDeleteI had that same urge at 27. Et voila, one week befoe I was 28, I gave birth to beautiful twin girls. They (along with their totally lovely brother) have truly been the joys of my life. Perhaps I was uniquely lucky. I don't think so. They make my life worth living in spite of the inevitable end of it. jmg

It happened and now I am the proud mama of my very own Sophie!

Nope, never happened to me. Hee. But I have great stepkids and through them was able to get to be a grandma with very little effort on my part! I'm so lazy, it suits me just fine.

ReplyDeleteYes, but only recently. I'd always felt undecided about having children up until about a year ago. Now I can't wait to have a baby. (I'm 33 by the way.)... What you wrote about baby love pretty much sums it up.
ReplyDeleteI am now 32 and at 27 I finally confessed my desire to have kids. Prior to that I didn't ever think about it because of the boyfriend-repellent potential.

I"m 30 now and it hit me when I was 28... it doesn't help that my niece and nephew are so dang cute!

ReplyDeletewell, i just dont wanna be an "old mom" but on the other hand i wanna wait just a little longer..i think the time is never right and never wrong-you seem like a pretty cool couple- whats better for a kid than loving parents?-so go for it!!!!

Yes! It's amazing how it happens. You're just going along enjoying life and then wham! You start noticing babies all around you and they are SO adorable. Then enters my daughter who i love and adore!

I think it started for me at about 28 and now I'm 29 and in full blown baby fever phase - with the blog reading and thinking about babys and everything!
We've been talking about the baby thing for a while now and I think we are just about to start trying to make one of our own. Exciting and scary too!

ReplyDeleteI know this is an old post, but I just saw it for the first time. This has happened to me in the last 2 months or so, and I am becoming totally obsessed! I am 27 and it was like someone flipped a switch in my brain. I also read tons of mommy blogs and am dreaming and fantasizing about having a baby of my own. I was shocked by how suddenly this happened. Thankfully, my husband also wants one and we have decided to start trying next spring....if I can wait that long!
ReplyDeleteI am 28 - and I feel EXACTLY like how you write in your (now 4 year old) post... I worry that I will be too old when I have my first baby even though I somehow also know it won't be long from now, and alos know that I am not at all too OLD to have my first! I guess it's just a silly thought that I can't seem to let go! What I also worry about is having enough money, time and energy (I run my own business) and so this is the main factor that I am not yet a mother! But judging from some of the above comments 28 seems to be the "magical" I-want-a-baby-age! :) FUN!
